This safari will have you out there amongst the plains games wildlife with a professional walking guide who will not only reveal Tanzania’s rich wildlife but bring the Macro world of tracks and markings alive with each excursion made on foot. Each guided walk offers something completely different both in regards to wildlife encounters and the mind blowing scenery we will take you, allowing also time to understand the people and tribes of the land with a very real grass roots experience of the brightly decorated Maasai people.

Below, we go through the adventure day-by-day, giving you a better feel of the adventure.

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport where you will be met by your B2B driver and transfered to Ahadi Lodge located just outside Arusha town.

Day 2: Arusha National Park

After breakfast drive the short distance to Arusha National Park where you head out on an easy walking safari with an armed ranger. Walk through open plains and the lower slopes of Mt. Meru over to waterfalls. Get a different perspective of viewing wildlife from the ground level. There are also good chances of seeing black and white Colobus monkey.

Optional: afternoon canoeing safari of Little Momela lake – gives you a great opportunity to approach

Continue with afternoon game drives before heading back to Ahadi Lodge.

Day 3: Maasai community of Esilalei

Leave Arusha after breakfast and take a slow drive to the Manyara region to your camp which is a short distance from the Maasai community of Esilalei. Meet with your local Maasai guide who will introduce you to his village. Get a better understanding of the natural medicines still used on a daily basis with a Maasai medicine walk of the surrounding area. Then continue down to a Boma (mud dwelling) for an introduction into the Maasai way of life, beliefs and rituals.

Late afternoon/early evening take a walk to the camps view point. Enjoy a sundowner drink and some snacks while watching the sunset before heading back to camp for a relaxing shower before dinner.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

Morning wake-up call with bird chorus. After breakfast you head via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the endless plains of Serengeti. Game drive en-route to central Serengeti – explore the many different areas of the park, your driver guide will advice on the best places to visit.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

A full day of game drives in Serengeti National Park. Head over to the Rock Kopjes where you have goodchances of seeing some of the cat families. Cheetah and lion use this giant rock out crops as observation posts.

Optional: Early morning head out for a Balloon flight. View the Serengeti plains from a hot air balloon followed by champagne breakfast on the landing site.

Day 6: Walking in Serengeti National Park

Here your real walking adventure starts inside the Serengeti park. We will transfer you the meeting point where you will meet your walking guides and camp staff. We use a small light weight camp as our base for the next 2 days. The camp consists of small dome tents with foam mattresses with duvets (not sleeping bags), a shower and toilet tent and incase of bad weather a mess tent to take your meals. You will spend each day walking from the camp, you will walk at a slow pace covering a maximum of 15kms per day but often much less. You will space a lot of time admiring the views across the plains or sitting watching and waiting at waterholes. It is not just about the large animals but getting to know the smaller ones, the vegetation and feeling at one with nature. The evening are spent looking at the stars and enjoying a wholesome meal. This is truly a once in a life time experience.

Day 7: Walking in Serengeti National Park

You continue your walking adventure in the Serengeti. Continue to learn about both plants and animals both large and small.

Day 8: Ngorongoro nature walk

After breakfast game drive en-route out of the Serengeti, heading back through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Continue to the crater rim and onto the NCAA HQ where you collect a ranger who will accompany you on a nature walk of the crater rim. Late afternoon head to Rhino lodge located just off the Ngorongoro Crater rim – enjoy your dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater

Early morning descend into the crater for game drives. There are 25,000 large mammals residing in the park. The elephants are mainly bulls, females stay out of the park due to it boasting the largest predator population in Africa. Black Rhino also make their home on the grassy plains, their numbers make up for almost half of what can still be found in East Africa; about 20 in total. Leave the crater early afternoon and return to Arusha.

Day 10: Departure

After a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, slowly transfer to Kilimanjaro airport where you connect with your flight. (B)
