Kenya and Tanzania 13 Days

We’ve all sat down and enjoyed “Big cat diary” or a “David Attenborough African travel special” on Discovery Channel but have you actually stopped and imagined you could be the one standing out the top of a customized 4 x 4 game viewing vehicle with the smells and sites of this Kenyan-Tanzania combined wildlife safari reaching out to excite your every sense.

Arrival to Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to be met and whisked away through an ever changing scenery full of impressions, colors and smiles.  6 days of untamed wildlife experiences exploring Kenya’s National Parks and the Maasai Mara National Reserve before the finale as you enter into Tanzania northern safari circuit being the last frontier of uninterrupted National Parks and Conservation Areas allowing important wildlife corridors to remain open to the rhythm of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra as they gather annually out on the open plains of Serengeti N.P. Below, we go through the adventure day-by-day, giving you a better feel of the adventure.

Day 1: Arrival Nairobi Airport

On arrival to JKIA airport you will be collected and transfer to your city hotel for an overnight.

Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara

At 0700 after breakfast you will proceed with your safari to the famous Masai Mara, home of the Maasai tribe. Enjoy a hot lunch at camp followed by an afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara game reserve, returning to the camp at sunset.

Day 3: Masai Mara

Spend the next 2 days exploring the vast Masai Mara game reserve. Depart camp after breakfast with picnic lunches for a full day game drive in the Masai Mara. Or you have the option of heading out for a morning game drive and returning to the lodge for a hot lunch before heading out again for an afternoon game drive.

Day 4: Masai Mara

Day 5: Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha

After breakfast proceed to Naivasha. On arrival in Naivasha check in to the lodge for lunch. Various activities are available from the lodge such as Boat Rides, Cresent Island visit, Hells Gate National Park (extra costs)

Day 6: Lake Naivasha to Amboseli National Park

After breakfast proceed with your safari to Amboseli where you arrive at your accommodation for lunch Then head out on afternoon game drives and return to camp for sunset.

Day 7: Amboseli to Tanzania to Lake Manyara

Depart from Amboseli in the morning to the Tanzania border. Here you will proceed with the immigration formalities and meet your Tanzania driver guide and vehicle. You enter Tanzania and continue on to the outskirts of Arusha where you will enjoy a hot lunch. Continue your journey through the changing landscape towards your camp for the night, located close to Lake Manyara in the Maasai community of Eselelei. On arrival you will check into your rooms before meeting with your local Maasai guide who will introduce you to his village and  Boma (mud dwelling), you will be introduced to the Maasai way of life, beliefs and rituals. You will then have on a short walk to a local view point, enjoy a cool drink and some snacks while soaking up the famous views out over Lake Manyara, before returning back to camp.

Day 8: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast depart towards Lake Manyara National Park for game drives of this very diverse park. If you are lucky you may see the famous tree climbing lions. Picnic lunch in the bush followed by game drives until mid-afternoon – then slowly make your way out of the park and return to the camp.

Day 9: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park

Morning wake-up call with bird chorus. After breakfast you head via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the endless plains of Serengeti. Game drive en-route to central Serengeti – explore the many different areas of the park, your driver guide will advice on the best places to visit.

O/n Angata Serengeti Camp (B, L, D)

Day 10: Serengeti National Park

Optional: Early morning head out for a Balloon flight. View the Serengeti plains from a hot air balloon

followed by champagne breakfast on the landing site.

A full day of game drives in Serengeti National Park. Head over to the Rock Kopjes where you have good chances of seeing some of the cat families. Cheetah and lion use this giant rock out crops as observation posts.

Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater Rim Walk

After breakfast game drives en-route out of the Serengeti, heading back through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Continue to the crater rim and onto the NCAA HQ where you collect a ranger who will accompany you on a nature walk of the crater rim. Late afternoon head to Rhino lodge located just off the Ngorongoro Crater rim – enjoy your dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater Tour then to Arusha

Early morning descend into the crater for game drives. There are 25,000 large mammals residing in the park. The elephants are mainly bulls, females stay out of the park due to it boasting the largest predator population in Africa. Black Rhino also make their home on the grassy plains, their numbers make up for almost half of what can still be found in East Africa; about 20 in total. Leave the crater early afternoon and return to Arusha.

Day 13: Departure from Kilimanjaro Airport

After a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, slowly transfer to Kilimanjaro airport where you connect with your flight. (B)
