‘Minimum environmental impact’ has been, and continues to be our catch-phrase. Materials used for construction have been sourced locally and tasteful traditional building methods adapted to create a stunningly attractive result, blending harmoniously with the surrounds. This uniquely beautiful ocean resort was opened for business late 2008. Located north of the historic City of Tanga we are the first and only coastal resort along this most northern stretch of the Tanzanian coast. The setting is beachfront, backed by coastal forest, mangroves and ancient coral cliffs… truly idyllic, share it with us!
The warm Indian ocean, at both high and low tides, is a treat for swimming with high tides reaching well up into the bays for safe (no current) swimming, with spring tides almost lapping the rooms! Snorkeling at any time around our lagoon, the drop off or, at higher tides, in and around the mangroves is a must!
Surrounding mangroves hold the very beginnings of coastal life and the coastal forest is wild, tropical with coastal vegetation – swarming with birdlife, the elusive suni, bushpig and bushbuck as well as giant squirrels, monkeys and baboons… Or gently ambling along white, sandy beaches – past coves, offering up an assortment of interesting rock pools featuring a myriad of exotic sea creatures. Or again, out on traditional dhows, visiting amazing sand islands 10km offshore, exposed only at low tides, or searching for dolphin. Fisherman too can test themselves against Marlin, Sailfish, Giant Trevally, Dog Tooth Tuna, Tropical Amberjack, Kingfish and much much more..
